- Distance to major cities: The Bay is several hours’ drive from the country’s major cities and tourist areas. From the capital, Santo Domingo, for example, the journey takes about 6-7 hours by car.
- Lack of tourism infrastructure: The surrounding area is still underdeveloped in terms of tourism, which means there are not many accommodations or services nearby. This discourages mass tourism, keeping the bay pristine, but also complicates access.
